High caffeine teas contain roughly 50–120mg of caffeine per cup — comparable to a standard coffee, sometimes more. These are the teas that can actually replace your morning espresso, and they tend to release their caffeine more gradually thanks to L-theanine, so you get steady energy without the crash.
If you're after a strong start to the day, our Ceremonial Grade Matcha SEIFU delivers around 70mg per serve with a clean, focused lift. For something more familiar, Yunnan Golden Tips is a full-bodied black tea with natural sweetness and no bitterness. And if you're curious about smoky flavours, Lapsang Souchong Floral has a gentler smokiness than the original — Joanne often recommends it to people who find regular Lapsang too intense.
This collection also includes Dragon Well, Gyokuro, and raw pu-erh — teas where the caffeine content might surprise you if you assume "green tea = low caffeine." Processing method and leaf quality matter more than colour when it comes to caffeine levels.
Want something with less kick? Browse our medium caffeine or low caffeine teas. If you'd like to try a few side by side, drop into our Tea Bar at Salamanca Art Centre in Hobart — we can brew a couple for you to compare.
