Medium caffeine teas sit in the 30–50mg range per cup, depending on leaf quantity and brewing style. This is where you'll find most oolongs and green teas, and it's the range Joanne drinks the most herself.
Our Jasmine Dragon Pearls are a good entry point if you're new to loose leaf tea. The hand-rolled pearls unfurl slowly in hot water, and the jasmine scent is gentle rather than overpowering. For something more complex, Big Red Robe Oolong has a roasted, mineral character that a lot of coffee drinkers take to straight away. And Alishan High Mountain Oolong from Taiwan is lighter and more floral — a different side of oolong entirely.
If you find medium caffeine teas aren't quite enough, our high caffeine collection has matcha, raw pu-erh, and stronger black teas. If you're winding down for the evening, the low caffeine range covers white teas and aged pu-erh with a gentler caffeine level. And for truly zero caffeine, we have a small caffeine-free herbal selection too.
Not sure where to start? Our afternoon tea collection pulls from this range. Or visit us at the Tea Bar in Hobart's Salamanca Art Centre — tasting is the easiest way to find what suits you.
