Tea contains both caffeine and L-theanine — an amino acid that's been studied for its role in promoting calm alertness. Unlike coffee, which can spike and crash, teas rich in L-theanine tend to deliver a steadier kind of energy. That combination is why many people reach for tea when they need to concentrate.
This collection brings together the teas we've found work well for that. HIJIRI-NO-SATO Ceremonial Grade Matcha is the obvious choice — the whole-leaf preparation means you're getting the full dose of both L-theanine and caffeine. For something less intense, Dragon Well (Long Jing) is a clean, vegetal green tea that sharpens your morning without overstimulating.
Our oolongs also belong here. Dong Ding Oolong and Big Red Robe sit between green and black teas in oxidation, giving you moderate caffeine with layered flavour that makes a work session more enjoyable. And if you want something with a bit of character, Lapsang Souchong has a smoky, bold profile that tends to wake people up.
