Authentic Chinese Tea Collection - A Moment of Tea
Experience the rich heritage of Chinese tea through our carefully curated collection at A Moment of Tea. Our journey began in 2014 when our founder Joanne had a transformative tea experience in Beijing, leaving a lingering sweetness that inspired a lifelong passion. This moment sparked a passion that led to years of intensive study under tea masters and eventually to bringing truly authentic Chinese tea to Australia.
The Rich Heritage of Chinese Tea
Chinese tea cultivation spans nearly 3,000 years of refinement. Tea plants are divided into two botanical varieties: the small-leaf Camellia sinensis var. sinensis, common in eastern China, and the large-leaf Camellia sinensis var. assamica, prevalent in Yunnan.
Each tea's character is shaped by its region. Yunnan's ancient tea forests yield bold, earthy pu-erh and gold-tipped black teas. Fujian offers exquisite white teas, floral oolongs, and distinctive blacks like Lapsang Souchong. Zhejiang produces the renowned Dragon Well green tea, while Anhui is celebrated for Huangshan Maofeng green tea and unique yellow teas like Huoshan Huangya.
Explore Our Premium Chinese Teas
Chinese Green Tea
Our green tea collection features China's finest unoxidized teas, crafted to preserve their freshness and vibrant flavors. Enjoy the nutty, chestnut notes of hand-flattened Dragon Well (Longjing) or the delicate floral sweetness of Jasmine Dragon Pearls—each a testament to regional artistry. Perfect for morning focus or an afternoon lift.
Chinese White Tea
White teas highlight minimal processing, letting the leaf's natural essence shine. From delicate Silver Needle with its downy buds to the layered White Peony, our range includes a 2012 Aged White Tea—an innovative take inspired by pu-erh techniques, offering depth and sweetness over time. Fujian's ideal climate yields subtle complexity for mindful sipping.
Chinese Oolong Tea
Oolong strikes a balance between green and black tea, with partially oxidized leaves revealing extraordinary depth. Our selection spans light, floral Taiwanese Alishan High Mountain and Dong Ding to the roasted richness of Fujian's Da Hong Pao (Big Red Robe). These teas evolve over multiple infusions, perfect for moments of reflection.
Chinese Black Tea & Dark Tea
Our black teas, fully oxidized, deliver bold, satisfying brews. Discover Lapsang Souchong in two styles: the classic pine-smoked version and an unsmoked floral variant. Our dark teas feature Yunnan's aged pu-erh, available as loose leaves or compressed cakes, growing smoother and earthier with time.
The Art of Selecting Chinese Tea
Choosing your ideal tea starts with flavour preferences. Love fresh, delicate tastes? Try our green or white teas. Crave aromatic complexity? Explore our oolongs. Prefer rich, robust brews? Opt for black or pu-erh teas.
Quality teas reveal careful craftsmanship in their appearance, yield multiple infusions, and leave a pleasant aftertaste—known as hui gan, a lingering sweet sensation. Start with our sample packs to find your favourite.
