What is a Cha Hai? 

The Cha Hai, also known as the fairness cup or Gong Dao Bei, ensures that each participant receives an equal share of brewed tea in terms of flavour and strength. This vessel decants tea from the brewing vessel (such as a teapot or Gaiwan) before pouring it into individual cups, preventing the tea leaves from continuing to steep. This process promotes fairness and equality among all participants, making it a key element in the tea ceremony.
