The 350ml bamboo handle glass teapot is a borosilicate steeping pot with a glass infuser, made in Dehua, Fujian, for brewing loose leaf at the table. Its handle is a single length of bamboo that arches over the lid rather than sitting at the side, bound at each end with woven rattan where it meets the glass loops on the pot's shoulders. Inside, a glass infuser does the filtering through fine slits cut into the base of the cylinder, so there is no metal mesh and only glass touches your tea.

Lift it by the handle and the weight hangs straight below your hand, which makes it easy to pour one-handed. The bamboo sits well clear of the hot glass, so you can pick it up as soon as the water goes in. Because the whole body is clear, we tend to judge the steep by colour rather than by the clock, which helps with lighter teas that turn bitter quickly.

This is a steeping and serving pot only. There is no stovetop or kettle function, so boil your water separately and pour it over the leaves in the infuser.

• Skip abrasive cleaners on the glass and the infuser.
