Little Chick Tea Pet

Petite Yixing Purple Clay Companion

Meet your tiny tea companion - this sweet little chick brings gentle charm to your tea sessions with its delicate size and endearing round form. At just 2cm tall, it's one of our smallest tea pets, making it a subtle addition to any tea tray.

In Chinese tea culture, chicks symbolise new beginnings, growth, and the simple joys of daily life. This petite tea pet embodies the mindfulness of small moments, especially if you appreciate understated beauty in your tea practice.

Product Details

  • Material: Authentic Yixing purple clay (Duan Ni) from Jiangsu Province
  • Craftsmanship: Traditional handmade techniques
  • Size: 2.0cm high × 2.6cm long
  • Weight: Approximately 25g

The compact form means every pour of tea creates concentrated colour development - you'll notice the transformation more quickly than with larger tea pets.

This works well for:

  • Beginners starting their tea pet journey
  • Minimalist tea setups where space is limited
  • Anyone who appreciates subtle, charming additions to their daily tea ritual

Understanding tea pets

Tea pets are ancient companions that turn daily tea drinking into a mindful ritual. Each tea session makes your tea pet more unique - as you pour leftover tea over it, you're creating something that's completely yours. No two tea pets ever look the same after months of care.

The transformation timeline

  • First 2-8 weeks: Hot tea immediately darkens the clay, gradually becoming permanent
  • 2-6 months: Your tea pet develops beautiful lustre and rich colouration
  • 6+ months: Achieves full maturation with a polished finish

Tea pet care

Daily tea sharing:
Place your tea pet on your tea tray, in a separate bowl, or on your tea waste bowl for easy pouring. Pour leftover hot tea over your tea pet during each session - never plain water, which can crack the clay. Stick to the same tea type for consistent colour development.

Simple maintenance:
If tea stains build up, gently brush with soft bristles and warm water. Never use soap - the tea oils create the beautiful transformation.

Watch the changes:
Your tea pet's colour and texture will reflect your tea drinking habits. Oolong creates rich amber-brown tones, while pu-erh develops deeper, earthier colours. Over months, the surface becomes smooth and lustrous - like polished wood.
