The 320ml Song-style glass teapot is a borosilicate glass teapot with a built-in infuser, made for brewing loose leaf tea for one. Its shape follows the Song dynasty zhihu, a handled pouring vessel about a thousand years old, but the material is modern heat-resistant glass. At 320ml it's sized for one person, or two small cups if you're sharing.

The long curved spout is what you notice first. It rises from a round, egg-like body and pours cleanly. The side handle and the lid knob are pale purple glass, which stands out against the clear body, and there's a small decorative glass motif where the spout meets the body.

It works like any glass teapot. Add your leaves, pour in hot water, steep and pour. We reach for it with lighter teas because the clear glass lets you watch the colour develop, so you can time a white tea or an oolong by eye rather than by the clock. Glass won't hold on to flavours either, so we move from an oolong to a blooming tea without any carry-over.

About the shape

Zhihu (执壶) means a handled pouring vessel, and this form dates to the Song dynasty, roughly a thousand years ago. The round egg-like body, long curved spout and side handle all come from the original. Here the same lines are made in clear borosilicate glass.
