The Yuanbao Fairness Cup takes its shape from the Chinese gold ingot (元宝), a traditional symbol of prosperity. The wide, curved body tapers into a narrow spout, following the ingot's silhouette while keeping the pour smooth and controlled.

Available in two versions: clear transparent glass ($39) that shows off the tea colour fully, or warm amber glass ($45) that adds a golden tone to lighter teas. Both are made from heat-resistant glass.

The body is slightly wider than most fairness cups, which gives the tea a moment to cool and settle before you pour.

This works well for:

  • Pairing with your gaiwan for a complete gong fu setup
  • The amber version works nicely alongside roasted oolongs — the warm tones match the tea's character
  • A tea table where the teaware itself carries cultural meaning

The yuanbao shape is less common than standard fairness cups, which is part of why Joanne chose to carry it. Regulars at our Tea Bar often ask about the shape.

If you love tea or even like it this is the place to experience tea and all it conveys in a beautiful, serene setting. While in Tasdie in January 2026 I had the pleasure of being able to visit my favourite tea shop. The experience did not disappoint. The service is exceptional and the tea. Well you will have to taste it yo believe it. A must if you want something to remember tassie.
