Version

Tasmanian Pinot Black Tea is a blended black tea inspired by Tasmania's Pinot Noir wine culture. It pairs Tasmanian black tea with dried local Pinot grapes and Chinese black tea, creating a grape-forward cup that wine lovers and tea drinkers both seem to enjoy. The grape character comes from actual dried fruit rather than artificial flavouring, so it tastes natural and layered rather than sweet or synthetic.

What you'll taste

Dry grape notes upfront, with a smooth, mild tea base underneath. There's a bit of body and depth from the Chinese black tea in the blend — think of it as the structure that holds the fruit together, if you want to keep the wine comparison going. At our Tea Bar, I've watched visitors take their first sip and say something like "oh, I can taste the grape."

For people who think they don't like tea

This is the tea I reach for when someone at our Salamanca Tea Bar tells me they're "not really a tea person." The wine connection gives them something familiar, and from there the conversation usually opens up. If you're buying for a wine lover who hasn't found their tea yet, this is a good starting point.

Brewing guide

Use 2 teaspoons of tea per 500ml teapot with 95°C water. Steep for 4 minutes and enjoy 1–2 infusions. The first steep is where the grape character is strongest. The second steep is gentler and brings out more of the tea base. Try it without milk first to get the full fruit profile.

Storage

No artificial flavours, colours, or preservatives. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place away from light and moisture.
