Osmanthus Green Tea is a blend of organic green tea leaves and dried osmanthus flowers. The osmanthus comes from Guilin in Guangxi Province, and the green tea comes from Anhui, China. The blend has a delicate floral sweetness, lighter and more subtle than jasmine tea, with a gentle peach-like fragrance from the osmanthus.

This is a good afternoon tea. The flavour is mild enough to drink without food, and the natural sweetness means most people enjoy it without honey or sugar. It brews light and clear.

How does it taste?

Floral, subtle, and sweet. The osmanthus gives a gentle peach- or apricot-like fragrance, lighter and more delicate than jasmine. The organic green tea base adds a clean, vegetal foundation with low bitterness.

About the osmanthus we use

The osmanthus flowers in this blend are the same ones we sell on their own as Freeze Dried Osmanthus Flower Tea — freeze-dried and unsulfured, from a small grower in Yangshuo, Guilin. This keeps the floral aroma bright and clear in the blend.

Joanne's notes

Osmanthus is one of the most popular scented teas in China. The flower has a naturally sweet, apricot-like fragrance that pairs well with light green tea. At our Tea Bar, we often suggest it to people who find jasmine tea a bit strong, or who want something floral for the afternoon.

If you want to dial up the floral character, you can add a small pinch of pure freeze-dried osmanthus to this blend when brewing.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place away from light and moisture.
