Loofah tea coaster, 8cm

This loofah coaster is a round 8 cm mat cut from natural dried loofah fibre with a stitched edge, made to sit under a small teapot, gaiwan or cup on the tea table. Loofah is the dried inside of a gourd, so it is light, slightly springy and soaks up the drips that always end up under a gongfu pot.

The stitched border keeps the edge from fraying and the mat lies flat. Over time it darkens with tea, which is normal and most people like the look. It is a natural material, so the fibre pattern and colour vary from piece to piece.

At 8 cm it suits a small teapot or a cup. A teapot wider than about 8 cm at the base will hang over the edge, so check your pot before you order.

Care

Shake out and air dry after use. If it gets grubby, rinse in warm water without soap, squeeze gently and leave it to dry flat.
