Gradient glaze ceramic tea cup, 200 ml, handleless

This gradient glaze tea cup is a 200 ml ceramic cup with no handle, coloured at the rim and fading to white at the foot. Three colours: dusk purple, mustard green and forest green. It's the size of a Japanese yunomi, tall enough for a proper cup of tea and narrow enough to hold in one hand while the tea cools.

The colour sits under a glossy clear glaze and the fade is smooth with no hard line, and the glaze is the same inside and out. The rim flares out a little, which makes it easy to drink from, and the cup stands on a short white foot ring.

It suits tea that's meant to be drunk slowly from a big cup rather than in small gongfu pours: a Tasmanian breakfast blend in the morning, a roasted oolong in the afternoon. The 200 ml size takes a teabag or an infuser basket.

The maker rates it safe for the dishwasher and microwave. Hand washing keeps the gloss. Small specks in the glaze are normal.
