Ribbed glass teapot with removable infuser, 800ml

This is an 800ml borosilicate glass teapot with a removable glass infuser, sized for two or three people at the table or one person settling in for the afternoon. The body has fine vertical ribs all the way round that catch the light and make the tea look a shade deeper than it is. The lid has a walnut knob and the handle is amber glass.

The infuser is a glass cylinder with narrow slots cut into the wall. Leaves go in, water goes over them, and the tea drains through the slots into the pot. When it's as strong as you like, lift the infuser out and the leaves stop steeping, so you can brew a full pot, walk away, and it won't turn bitter on you. Glass doesn't take on flavours, so a smoky black tea one day and jasmine green tea the next is no problem.

This works well for

• A full pot for two or three people, or refills through an afternoon
• Western-style brewing: one steep, lift the infuser, pour at your own pace
• Any loose-leaf tea or herbal blend; the ribbed body still shows the colour clearly enough to judge strength
• Sitting on a candle tea warmer if it cools before you finish

As a starting point, use 2 to 3g of leaf for every 200ml of water and steep 2 to 3 minutes before lifting the infuser. For a full pot that's roughly 8 to 12g; adjust to taste and follow the guide on your tea's packet where it gives one. We don't recommend putting the pot on a stove or hotplate. Caring for your glass teapot

• Hand wash in warm water
• The infuser slots are narrow, so rinse them under the tap soon after use, before leaves dry in
• Avoid sudden temperature shocks, like a cold pot meeting boiling water
• Small bubbles or ripples in the glass are normal for handmade glassware, and each pot varies slightly in size
