A glass teapot with an overhead bamboo handle

This is a 350ml borosilicate glass teapot made in Dehua, Fujian, with a bamboo handle that arches over the top of the lid instead of sitting on the side. The handle is a single piece of bamboo, bound at each end with woven rattan where it meets the glass loops on the pot's shoulders.

A glass infuser sits inside the pot. Instead of a metal mesh, fine slits cut into the base of the glass cylinder do the filtering, so only glass touches your tea. Lift the pot by the bamboo handle to pour, or leave it on the table and pour from there.

How to use

Add loose leaf to the infuser and pour hot water over it. The whole pot is clear glass, so you can watch the colour build as it steeps, useful for judging lighter teas by eye rather than the clock. There's no stovetop or kettle function on this one. It's a steeping and serving pot, not something you boil water in directly.

Teas that suit this pot

It holds enough for two or three small gongfu cups. The maker markets it for flower tea, green tea, and gongfu-style brewing, though any loose leaf works fine in a glass infuser like this one.

Care

Hand wash with warm water and let it air dry. Skip abrasive cleaners on the glass, and keep the bamboo handle out of long soaks so the rattan binding holds up over time.

All our glassware ships in double-layered bubble wrap with cardboard inserts.
