Blooming flower tea gift box
A blooming flower tea is a hand-tied bundle of dried flowers and tea leaves that slowly opens into a full bloom when you add hot water. This gift box contains six individually wrapped tea balls — three with tea leaves, three pure flower blossoms — so the person you're giving it to gets to watch that unfurling happen six times over.
It's a gift that works for people who are hard to buy for, because it's visual and a bit unexpected. We've sent these out for birthdays, Christmas, office Secret Santas, and Mother's Day. The reaction is usually the same — people pull out their phone to film the bloom happening.
What's in the box
Tea with flowers (left side): Chrysanthemum + Black Tea, Jasmine + Rose + Green Tea, Lily + Black Tea. These have a light caffeine content from the tea leaves and a gentle floral taste.
Pure blossoms (right side): Lily, Mixed Flowers, Pure Rose. These are completely caffeine-free — just flowers, no tea leaves. The flavour is lighter and more delicate.
How to brew
Place one tea ball in a glass teapot or a tall glass with about 400ml of 90°C water. Wait about 3 minutes for the full bloom, then drink. You can re-steep each ball 2-3 times. For the pure blossom balls, you can divide one ball into thirds and get 3 lighter servings from each.
You'll want a glass teapot to see the bloom — that's where the visual experience comes from. If you're looking for a more complete gift, our Blooming Tea Hamper ($90) includes a glass teapot with the tea.
Value
The gift box is $36 for six tea balls. Buying them individually would be $42 (6 × $7), so the box saves a bit and comes properly packaged for gifting. Each ball makes 400ml of tea with 2-3 infusions, so the box gives you roughly 18 cups total.
Available at our Salamanca Tea Bar in Hobart — you're welcome to come in and try one before you buy.
Looking for a single blooming tea to try first? Grab an individual Blooming Flower Tea for $7.
Joanne's tip
One of our customers, Lauren, called these "an exquisite gift — beautiful to watch bloom and lovely to drink." I hear that a lot. I like giving this box to people who've never seen blooming tea before, because you can see the surprise on their face when the flower opens up. For something with a bit more tea knowledge inside, pair it with our Floral Teas Sampler Pack ($35) — loose-leaf versions of our floral range.
About blooming flower tea
Blooming flower tea (also called flowering tea or display tea) has been made in China's Yunnan and Fujian provinces for centuries. Each ball is hand-tied by artisans who arrange dried flowers and tea leaves into a bundle. When steeped, the bundle unfurls to reveal the flower arrangement inside — lily, rose, jasmine, or chrysanthemum depending on the variety.
The tradition started as a way to combine visual art with tea drinking. Today, blooming teas are popular as gifts and for special occasions because of that visual element.
Storage
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place away from light and moisture. The tea balls keep well for 12 months or more when stored properly.

from 137 reviewsI’m really enjoying this tea. Very smooth, an incredible tea to taste. Highly recommend. Will definitely repurchase and continue to try other teas you recommend. Thankyou
This is seriously a lovely tea. Smooth flavour and no bitterness at all. I usually like milk with my tea but no problems without milk at all. Will definitely purchase again. Thanks
This is a really handy little flask. Just the right size and the temp gauge is a great addition so you know how hot the contents are . Not too big or small just right😄
I love smokiness in most things so when I saw this Lapsang Souchong Original Smoked I grabbed a sample to try and I was blown away.
From the moment you open the packet the aroma of the smokiness hits front and centre.
With smallish leaves I eagerly brewed up. I was presented with a beautiful full amber liquid and the smoke hitting my nose was welcoming.
The only way I can describe this tea is it brings back memories of camping down by the creek on our farm burning pine cones. It’s like a warm hug being able to taste the smell. It reminds me of the smokiness in your clothes once you walk away from that fire.
Full bodied and lovely mouth feel.
I want to write this because I am genuinely impressed with the service I received.
I had an issue with one of the teas I purchased and I emailed A Moment of Tea about it. That morning I received a email back from Zachary profusely apologising about the mishap. In the email Zachary thanked me for the email because they actually found an issue in the OS supplier and worked towards a solution with them that day.
Zachary took the time to explain to me the process as to how this tea was produced and why the issue occurred and what’s happening to fix the issue.
To say the least I was blown away and again would like to thank Zachary for the communication through email. I highly highly recommend anyone with a Chinese Tea love to purchase from here as the teas I have tried so far are top notch. Tea reviews coming.
Jasmine Dragon Pearls / Buddhas Tears - Very subtle Jasmine comes through.
Lapsang Souchong Original Smoked - It’s like getting a hug from the camp fire on your camping trip. Immediately bought back memories of camping and having that smokey smell through your clothes (my favourite atm)
Shou Mei White Tea - very refreshing and bright white tea
So delicious, and a nice touch
I am very impressed with both the service and products. This is my first time I have ordered anything, and will definitely be returning. Many thanks, and congratulations.
I'm very happy with the samples sizes in the Sampler pack, as it enables me to share cups with friends and family to find out what their particular preferences are. Many thanks.
Purchased these at a market on holidays in Tassie several years ago, having been ordering ever since! My whole family love the dragon pearls, beautiful green tea and pretty to watch open up.
Mandarin Pu-erh Post-fermented Tea
