In Chinese it is a hucheng, the dish that holds the teapot at a gongfu table and catches the water you pour over it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe outside and rim are the same rough black clay as the matching gourd teapot, with the same scattered gold patches. The white centre is glazed, so water pools there and wipes out easily. The dish is made in Dehua, Fujian, and each one is finished by hand, so the gold lands differently on each.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eIt fits any small teapot up to roughly 10 cm at the base. It also works as a small dish for tea snacks when it is not holding a pot.
